Message from the Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal
The Government of West Bengal puts special emphasis on education as an important building block in the development of the State. The administration believes in 'Education First' which puts special thrust on the power of education and youth. It is the firm belief of our Chief Minister that youth and education will take the State to greater heights in the years to come.
With this vision, a specialized team along with the Department of Higher Education has developed robust systems - Central Portal and School Management System, Shiksha Saathi. The objective behind this initiative is to digitally revolutionize the public education sector and make it easily accessible across all geographical grid.
Central portal has been specifically designed to act as a one stop solution for the accessibility of all education related data. This will help periodically assess the overall performance of schools across pre-determined indicators covering all aspects of school education. With the help of these dashboards, school level data will be consistently tracked and used to determine areas of improvement. Specific interventions can then be planned to address the gaps identified.
To further make the data school specific, a school management system has been set up to enable authorities to manage day to day activities of the school efficiently. The application supports login facilities to the Head of the Institutions, teaching and non-teaching staff, students & guardian. Also, the user can monitor activities of the school like student attendance, academic planning, class routine, student academic performance and progress report generation, student health information etc. We will have individual school websites which will give us all the information and background of government, aided & sponsored schools in the State.
The relentless efforts of the hands and minds behind this initiative of the Department of Higher Education office has been to integrate all the necessary information into the systems and make it as user friendly as possible. Further to this, the stakeholders and relevant teams with equal participation of Schools will use all the information to feed into the Central Portal and SMS regularly to update the systems and make it lively, to generate appropriate reports that will help in the identification of the existing gaps and chalk out remedial plans in accordance to the same. This will help create an environment where in parents, students, schools and the State co-exist, interact and participate with the purpose of ensuring a better teaching and learning environment for all.
